Water Aid

Clean water, sanitation and hygiene are basic needs for a healthy environment and a productive life.

‎When people have access to clean water and sanitation, waterborne diseases decrease, children stay healthier and go to school more regularly. Mothers can spend less time carrying water and more time helping their families.‎

Through water, sanitation and hygiene programs (WASH), Rotary's action people mobilize resources, form partnerships, and invest in infrastructure and training that lead to long-term change. ‎

When a community gets clean water for the first time, it’s the start of something truly life-changing. Right now, some of the world’s poorest and most marginalised people don’t have clean water to drink, decent toilets to use or good hygiene to protect themselves. Without these basics, overcoming poverty is just a dream. ‎

But when you help us to dig a well or install a tap stand in a community, you're changing the lives of children like Dina from Mozambique for the better. They can dream again. ‎

785 million people in the world – one in ten – do not have clean water close to home.
