Talk on Land Speed Records by Greville Dawson

The Club enjoyed on 26th November a very interesting presentation by Greville Dawson on Land Speed Records.
Greville is a STEM Ambassador for the Bloodhound project to support the 1,000mph World Land Speed Record attempt. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. STEM is important to the UK economy and is sponsored by many of the largest companies such as Oracle, Rolls Royce, Castrol Rolex,  Serco and the Royal Air Force.
Grenville , who lives in Four Marks, was accompanied by his wife Elly and daughter Eva.  Land Speed Records have been his interest from his youth.  After College he studied mechanical engineering  sponsored by the MOD at its Fighting and Research Establishment at Longcross in Surrey. Grenville also wrote a book on the history of the Land Speed Record with a foreword by Tonia Bern Campbell. Many of his manuscripts and historical materials are now kept at the National Motor Museum Archives, Beaulieu.

STEM Ambassadors are volunteers from a wide range of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) related jobs and disciplines across the UK. They offer their time and enthusiasm to help bring STEM subjects to life and demonstrate the value of them in life and careers.
