Book here! Dom Irvine, Alresford's own ultra-distance cyclist and Lands End to John O'Groats world record holder (https://dominicirvine.co.uk), will talk about his latest cycling adventure. He cycled unsupported (no team bus, nobody following in a car, carrying all his own kit, buying his own food...) from the Mexican border to Banff in the Canadian Rockies (2750 miles) along forest and mountain trails. Did he do it for fun or for charity? No, he was racing - there were other people as committed and determined as him prepared to cycle for 20 hours a day and sleep rough in order to be the first across the line. Along the way he encountered bears, biblical weather, mechanical problems, had to buy a new bike and tore a leg muscle. The muscle really slowed him down (the other things were just annoying) and left him in considerble pain; he was forced to give up the lead, but he didn't give up the race.. Come and hear Dom's fascinating account of this epic ride. All profits from the event will be split between The Rotary Club of Alresford and Holly Budge's How Many Elephants charities (https://www.howmanyelephants.com).
