Christmas Shoebox

The gift of a shoebox that contains toys, toiletries, educational items or household goods is a drop of happiness to the people of Eastern Europe who live in a world of poverty. For many, it will be the first present that they have ever received and it lets them know that somebody, somewhere cares. Alresford Rotary supports this worthwhile appeal every year, sometimes as a joint venture with the Rotary Club of Four Marks and Medstead. Last year, despite difficult economic times clearly having an effect local schools, churches, young farmers, women’s institutes and other individuals and groups responded magnificently enabling the Rotary Club of Alresford to contribute 587 boxes of presents towards a District total of 27,172 bringing joy and delight to 27,172 children in Tanzania, Montenegro and Romania many of whom would never previously have received any present.
