The timber planters immediately in front of the brick and flint Alresford town signs at the three entry points of the Cricketers cross-roads, Bishops Sutton Road and Winchester Road, needed some tlc. Installed originally by Alresford Rotary around 20 years ago, the Club selected local landscaper Geoff Amey of Complete Garden Construction to carry out the refurbishment work. Geoff in turn contacted Mike Wise, the local Manager of Covers Timber and Builders Merchants in Prospect Road, who kindly agreed to donate the oak timber and other materials free of charge. Alresford Rotary expresses its gratitude to Covers for their generosity. Once approval had been received from New Alresford Town Council, Geoff Amey undertook the work at the end of May at Rotary’s instigation, following which Anita Wade replenished the plants on behalf of New Alresford Town Council.
